Emerging Markets Capital is a private mining investment firm based in Hong Kong. We invest primarily in mining equities listed on the TSX and ASX, through both private placements and through the secondary market. We invest in a mix of pre-discovery, exploration, development, and producing companies across jurisdictions but with a strong preference for Canada, Australia, Mexico, and South America.

The investment philosophy of EMC lies in selecting undervalued private and public companies holding portfolios of assets that have high-grade and district-scale potential.

JORGE RAMIRO

MANAGING DIRECTOR

Jorge Ramiro Monroy is a Mexican mining entrepreneur and investor based in Hong Kong.

He is the Founder and Managing Director of Emerging Markets Capital, an investment firm based in Hong Kong investing primarily in mining exploration equities listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange.

Having spent the majority of his career in Asia, Jorge has founded a number of businesses with Asian Capital doing business in North America. Jorge is the CEO and Founder of Reyna Silver, a Toronto Stock Exchange-listed company with silver exploration projects in Mexico and the US.

Jorge currently serves on the boards of Sierra Madre Gold and Silver and Arabian Shield Resources He is a former director of Prime Mining and a Director of Garra Esports, a private company looking to build an Esports business in Latin America.

Prior to founding Emerging Markets Capital, Jorge worked for Frontier Securities, a Japanese-owned investment advisory and securities brokerage. He was part of the natural resources investments advisory team, advising and capital raising for mining and infrastructure companies with projects in Mongolia looking for investors in Asia and the Middle East.

Jorge was a founding member of the Mexican Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong and a Founder of the Silver Council of Asia.

Jorge holds a Bachelor's degree from the State University of New York, an MBA in Finance from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology

Jorge is fluent in English, Hindi, Spanish, and Portuguese and has passed the level III HSK Chinese Fluency Exam.

RHEA PALAJOS

GEOLOGIST AND MINING ANALYST

Rhea is a geologist and mining analyst based in Manila, Philippines. She joined Emerging Markets Capital in 2017 and has since then helped EMC by providing geological and corporate IR support, mainly on the screening of potential investment deals in the mining and metals industry.

She holds a BS Geology degree from Adamson University in Manila, Philippines.

LORRELIZ MERCADO

GEOLOGIST AND MINING ANALYST

Lorreliz is a Filipino geologist & mining analyst. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Geology from Adamson University in Manila, Philippines.

She is responsible for analyzing the companies’ geological data as well as evaluating prospective mineral assets. Before joining Emerging Markets Capital, she worked at one of the leading geotechnical companies in the Philippines, mainly in charge of supervising drilling projects.

MICHAEL WOOD

ADVISOR

Michael is originally from the UK, he holds a BSc. in Economics from Cardiff University and an MBA from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.

He started his career in Wealth Management in London, before joining the Metropolitan Police, where he progressed to be a detective conducting Counter Terrorism Investigations for Scotland Yard's Counter Terrorism Command (SO15).

Michael moved to Hong Kong in 2010 and completed a finance-focused MBA. He then conducted sales in Asia for two western technology firms, before moving into property consultancy and asset management. He has worked on a number of M&A deals and capital raises in Real Estate, Mining, and Technology. He manages an Asian-focused equity fund for Concord Asset Management and is a director of UK property developer/consultancy London Prime.

MARCO ROQUE

ADVISOR

Marco is an investor, entrepreneur, and seasoned corporate advisor based in Hong Kong, where he has been living since 2013.

He started his career at the largest Portuguese bank - Millennium BCP - in the Private Banking Division based in Lisbon.

Then, in early 2007 Marco joined Barclays Capital where he spearheaded the Portuguese Derivative and Structured Product Sales and across assets classes including fixed income, FX, commodities, equities, among others.

In addition to being a Director at Emerging Markets Capital, Marco is currently the CEO of Arabian Shield Resources, a private mining company engaged in the acquisition, exploration, and development of world-class mining assets in the Arabian-Nubian Shield.

Marco is a CFA charter holder, holds an MBA from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and London Business School, and is a Master in Finance from Nova School of Business and Economics in Lisbon as well as an undergraduate Management degree holder from the same school.

Having lived on several continents Marco speaks multiple languages. He is fluent in English, Spanish, French, and his mother tongue Portuguese, as well as a conversational Mandarin-Chinese speaker.

Marco is a frequent speaker at conferences around the world and a contributor to publications on investment, economics, and other related financial topics.

FORTUNE SUPREMO

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT manager

Fortune is responsible for companies' Human Resources and company logistics. She studied at Hong Kong Space University for Diploma in Accounting in Business.

She started her career at Metropolitan Bank and Trust Company based in Hong Kong in the Operations department for 8 years. After this, she joined Public Finance Limited, a subsidiary of Public Bank Malaysia servicing in Loans Department. She is currently based in Germany. She speaks English and can casually talk in German (B1 Level).
